This past weekend was my first of working two full shifts at the pool. That would sound alright but when you add it on to my practicum and evening shifts at the pool it is just draining. This weekend was particularly long because there was a swim meet and I was nice enough to pick up overtime hours to help out during the warm ups when there are over 400 kids in the pool.
Ok this is how my weekend went...
Jenn and Mike came up to visit me but came a little later than I was hoping on Friday evening. After chatting and catching up I got to bed and got about 5 hours of sleep before I had to get up for work. Saturday started off with a 9.5 hour shift at the pool and a bike back up the hill home (that hill is very frustrating especially after a long day at work). After a quick nap Jenn, Mike, Casey and I went out to the street festival downtown for a little bit. There are some pretty talented people out there, with a tri wheel unicycle balancing a glass of water juggling man to a multi hula-hooping women. Another short sleep and off to work again. Sunday a long 10 hour shift at the pool, I was sure ready to go home when it hit 5:30. I biked home rather slowly but once I got to the doorway I realized I had left my keys at work. At this point all I wanted to do was sleep and biking was not a high priority right now. I sat in the lobby for a good 10 minutes but finally got enough energy to get back on the bike (in rain now). After a really slow ride to and from work I finally got home at 6:30 and went right to bed. I had only planned to take a nap but ended up sleeping through until 6:30am. I must have really needed to catch up on my sleep.
It was great to have that long sleep and Monday I was feeling ready to go and start the week all over again. Hopefully this weekend won't be so bad.
